Every year, we do a personalized Christmas photo card. And every year I think they get better and better, if I do say so myself :D Each year we do a color theme, last year we did red and white, the year before it was blue and silver. This year we might do blue and white, but I'm still working on that. We always pose in our living room, and each year you can see how different our family looks with each new year of cards-the kids are getting older, my husband and I are getting a little rounder, and this year we've added some pets to the mix so we'll be sure to add them to our family picture! While my boys begrudgingly agree to dress alike, it always make for a great family picture that we use on our cards to give our friends and family an updated glimpse into our life!

Here are some ideas that you could try this year to make your holiday card just a little more awesome!
1)Add a recap of the past year! I know some people roll their eyes at cards that have a family newsletter or even a paragraph on what they've been up to, but I LOVE them! For us, we don't see many friends and family being so far away so it's a great opportunity to include some fun things we've done in the past year and to keep them posted on how the boys are doing!

2)Skip the traditional family pose-be daring! You know you laugh at those photo cards where everyone is wearing Hawaiian shirts on a snow bank, or they are all dressed up like superheros or wearing their favorite ugly Christmas sweaters. I get such a kick out of the creativity I see from people every year that I wish I had thought of those poses myself! Have fun with a family picture, you'd be surprised on how well it turns out plus you get a great family memory out of it!

3)Don't be so serious! Forget the long winded text in your card wishing everyone a blessed holiday season full of love-although the sentiment is sweet, why not do something different and have fun with the inside of your card! Include a favorite quote or a line from your favorite Christmas song, or even a holiday joke!
4)Make your card a scrapbook! Include the kids and decorate your photo card! Add some glitter around the picture, have the kids write their own name in their favorite color, add some decorate layers-it adds a little more of that personal touch to an already thoughtful card that the recipient is sure to love! 

5)Don't forget the envelope! Add some creative flair to the envelope-have some pretty address labels made, or put some fun holiday stickers on the outside, or buy some ink stamps and decorate the envelope to match the card with some holiday style! Even buying holiday stamps can make a little difference in the look of your card!

Powermat Review and Giveaway {My Gift Guide}

This past week, my husband and I parted ways across the country as we each left for our own individual vacations. He took his Powermat, and I took my brand new Powermat that I received for review!

Fall 2010!

I love Love LOVE fall! It's my favorite time of the year, and not because my birthday is in October ;)

Rubbermaid Reveal Mop Review and Giveaway

I love having no carpet in my house! It really helps with easing my allergies, but the downside to no carpet is the constant sweeping and mopping that I have to do on a daily basis!
Rubbermaid  has come out with a brand new mopping system called the Rubbermaid Reveal! This mop is not only an amazing way to get your floors clean, but it can save you money too! No more buying mop  refills and cleaning solutions that smell so strongly you can hardly breathe! Enter the Rubbermaid Reveal! This spray mop comes with removable and washable Microfiber pads that pick up "50% more dirt and dust per swipe" than your average mop. The "Refillable Spray Bottle allows you to customize your clean. Just mix your favorite solution with water or use plain hot water" and of course this mop can be used on all flooring surfaces-hardwood floors, tile, laminate flooring, etc. This mop is very lightweight, yet so strong and sturdy, and it needs no batteries to operate, just a flick of your finger and the mop sprays just the right amount of solution on your floor to get the job done!
I was fortunate to be able to review the Rubbermaid Reveal, and I have never been so excited for a review :D We have vinyl and hardwood floors, and my current mopping felt like such a money waster-and it didn't even do that great of a job. I opened my package and got started right away. There are so many great homemade solutions you can try if you do not want to buy mopping solution, and that is what impresses me the most is their Reveal Recipes that are so easy to make! I made the solution that was to work best on hardwood floors,
the recipe is:
2 Tablespoons Ammonia
1/2 cup white vinegar
1/2 teaspoon of baby shampoo
And fill to the line of hot water.

My floors not only looked clean, but FELT clean!! This truly was a first for me, having a mop that actually cleans well. I would use my old mop, and have to follow up on my hands and knees just to make the floor at least feel clean and that's way more work than I have time for as a busy mom of two boys! The solution went a long way, I have 5 rooms with hardwood floors and I was able to get them all clean!! My 3 year old even loves this mop, he is such a good helper and loves to clean so I let him give it a try and he gave me his seal of approval ;) My old mop is out in the trash, and let me tell you I tossed it happily!

There are several mopping solutions that Rubbermaid provides:
Cleaning Solution 2
• 2Tablespoons white vinegar
• 2-3 drops liquid soap

Not so Wordless Wednesday

My baby is growing up way too fast! He's doing less baby things and more toddler/grown up things, like ditching the high chair and eating with us at the table and using a fork instead of his fingers! He is 14.5 months old, I can't believe it!

Guidecraft Review and Giveaway!

I love a toy that is both educational and fun. It makes giving that toy to my children much more special because I know they are going to be getting so much more than just a toy when they are playing with it. Guidecraft is a company that puts so much thought into every toy they create. Guidecraft has some of the best educational toys I have ever come across, and not only do their products allow your child to be creative while having fun, these toys are top quality and made to last!
I was thrilled to be able to do a review for Guidecraft Toys. I chose to review their Drivetime Signs set of 6. My oldest recently learned how to ride a bike, and being that we live on a busy road, I wanted to be sure he knew all there is to know about traffic and being safe. And of course, I knew the Drivetime Signs would be so much fun to play with outside and even in our basement when it's too cold to ride bikes outside. He got such a kick out weaving in and out of the signs in our driveway, and he caught on so quickly what each sign meant-his favorite is the stop sign! Everywhere we go, he is sure to point out every sign he sees! I love that he is learning about road safety so young!
The great thing about Guidecraft products is the easy set up and construction. It's another great way to get your child involved in an activity that could be educational-reading instructions, following step by step procedures, etc. My son loved helping his dad and grandpa set up his new signs, as you can see! It was easy for him to connect the signs to the poles, no tools were required other than our hands! I would highly recommend these signs for any young child, it's great to get started early learning all things safety I think!

Guidecraft has so much to offer: Dollhouse furniture, art gear, bedroom furniture, dramatic play items, developmental toys-you name it, they have it! The selection is outstanding, and you know that if it's Guidecraft, it's top notch quality! With a company that's been around over 40 years, I have faith that they know what they are doing and providing us with the absolute best when it comes to the products we want for our children!
