Look what I did...

We had an amazing trip north this past weekend- lots of fun, food, and family!
I escaped for a bit on Friday to go get a new tattoo :D :D Since having my children, I've wanted a tattoo that represented them in some way. I fell in love with a scene about a year ago of two little birds on a branch. I've thought of the birds as my boys, and myself as the branch-a place that they can always go for comfort and support-a place to call home.
So with that idea in mind, I searched and searched for the perfect design. Even tried to draw my own, but nothing felt like it was meant to be mine. I always came back to the designer who had the digital artwork for my blog header, I love the simplicity of the birds and the bright and bold colors. I started thinking more and more of working up a design based on the birds, after all my searching, I realized my perfect design was right in front of my face!
So with that said, I assure you this tattoo is not in honor of my blog ;) but my darling children. What do you think?
The pic is blurry, but I think you get the idea :D

My favorite card, what's yours?

I love the Holiday Season, and all the joy it brings. I get a little more excited about Christmas every time we get a holiday card in the mail from a friend or a loved one, knowing that others are thinking about us during this time of the year. Since having children, I've starting doing Christmas Photo Cards. My favorite is our card and picture from last year (which is the same picture I have displayed at the left side of the blog!) It was our first nice picture as a family of 4, and after the year we had with all of Bennett's problems at his birth, it was nice to reflect on such a happy time in our life and to share that with others. That picture is still the background picture on my computer, so I can see it and reflect on it every day. Shutterfly has so many beautiful designs this year to help make your cards amazing! Some of my favorites are:

Shutterfly isn't just about beautiful cards this season, it's about the fun photo gifts you can give your loved ones for that added touch of a personal and well thought out gift! Check out their selection of Calendars and photo mugs! I gave my dad a photo mug last year with all of his grandchildren on it, and he just loved it, the pictures were so clear! I think personalized gifts are the best ones to give, no matter what they are, you know they are coming from the heart!

Make some memories this holiday season!!

Disclosure: I will receive a promo card for holiday cards for this post, no other compensation was given. My thanks to Shutterfly for this opportunity. For more information on my blogging practices, please see my disclosure policy at the top of the page.

Breathe Right Review and amazing Giveaway!

I've long suffered from allergies, and it seems I've shared that burden with my children. But thankfully I know how to ease the suffering! Consider this my greatest tip for all of you allergy sufferers out there ;)
Breathe Right Strips have been such a relief to myself and my 3 yr old. This time of year with the dry air and cold after cold in our house makes breathing difficult. With the suggestion from our pediatrician, my son started using Breathe Right Nasal Strips for Kids. They come in a fun design: blue, green, and purple strips with stars! They are very comfortable, and go on with ease! The difference it makes is amazing. My son snores so badly, and it breaks my heart knowing he has trouble breathing, but Breathe Right Nasal Strips have been such a blessing. They open up the nasal passages and allow him to breathe much better and get a more restful nights sleep. This is the best Drug Free option out there, in my opinion! It's safe enough to use every night, for as often as you need! And taking them off in the morning is easy as well, they just peel right off, and my son assures me it does not hurt to do so :D

The Breathe Right team has come up with a new Advanced strip that is even better at opening the nasal passages, which can help you breathe better and sleep better. I know that sleep is very important as a mom, and we need to get all the rest we can! Breathe Right Advanced Nasal Strips can help you get that rest you need, although they aren't a cure for that child who wants to wake up every hour to nurse some nights :D My allergies are so much easier to deal with at night, and I am one who does not like to take medication that makes me feel loopy to deal with my allergies, so this drug free option is the best choice for me!

Buy it!: You can buy Breathe Right in just about any drug store or major big box store as well as online!

Win it!! One lucky reader will win their choice of a $50 Travelocity Gift Card or a $50 R.E.I Gift card, as well as some Breathe Right strips of their own of course!

CSN Stores Review!

It's that time of year to be working on you Christmas shopping! I'm an eager beaver, and finished mine earlier in the month, even down to wrapping them :D I can't help but to get excited this time of year. CSN Stores has over 200 stores to choose from, allowing you to do all of your shopping in one place! With great prices you can't find anywhere else (and if you do find a better price, they'll match it!) you'll get that special something for everyone on your list, including something for yourself!
CSN Stores allowed me to do another great review for them, I have so grown to love all they have to offer! The opportunity came right as we were transitioning our boys into sharing a room, and I wanted to make their room special! I was able to squeeze two items into my budget, and I chose to review the following: The Trend Lab Polka Dot Wall Clock and the Dalyn Rug Co. 4-Ever Young Stripe Kids Rug. The theme I did in my boys' room was brown and blue, and those items are a perfect fit!! My oldest was so excited to get his new clock and rug in the mail, he told me that they were perfect for his "big boy" room! He helped me so much in the decorating and fixing up, he is such a good helper!
The clock is one of my favorite pieces of their room. It's got a great look, it's quiet, and it's easy to read. It's been a great tool in teaching my son how to read time, which he was anxious to do now that he had his own clock.
And the rug is just too cute! No, it's manly, very manly :D I love it. It's not heavy, but it stays in place thanks to the soft rubber backing. It is easy to clean, and again, it looks great with the rest of the decor. Each stripe stands out, and every color in the rug is somewhere in the room!

What do you think? I think it turned out great! It's been over a week, and I think everyone is finally getting adjusted to sharing a room, my oldest loves it, my youngest is still working out the kinks!
Don't forget CSN Stores this Holiday Season, be sure to check out their great deals on Black Friday too!
Keep up to date on all their sales, promotions, and contests by Liking the CSN Facebook page and Twitter page!

Disclosure: I received a gift card code for my choice of item for review.  No other compensation was given. Thanks to CSN Stores for this opportunity. Please see my disclosure policy for more information.

Time to slow down

If you haven't already noticed, I'm slowing down on the giveaway front. I just felt like I was getting behind and I didn't want to push anything farther back than what I was so I'm going to take a little break!
I can see how easy it is to spend all day on the computer, and if I could, I would do blog work all day just for all of you! But family comes first! I'll finish up the reviews I have and then I'll chill out. Don't worry, I'm not leaving for good, I'll be posting every few days! Stay tuned for more great things to come, like the Holiday Hop Gift Card Giveaway  in the first week of December!

I love Dawn (the dishsoap, that is!)

Even though we have a dishwasher, I still find myself washing dishes by hand-whether it's something that requires gentle washing or a dish that my washer failed to get cleaned (which happens more often than not!)
Hands down, my favorite dish soap is Dawn. I've used it for years, I've never bought another brand. I can use it in good faith that it is going to get the job done, and it's going to be done right!
Recently, Ultra Concentrated Dawn was given the TwitterMoms Seal of Approval! After a battery of tests and studies, 29 moms declared this product a winner!! 9 out of 10 would recommend it to their friends! I know I am someone who has recommended Dawn, even my husband loves the grease fighting capabilities of Dawn after a night of working on his truck!
Look  for the most hard working dish soap, Ultra Concentrated Dawn, and a store near you!

Disclaimer: Ultra Concentrated Dawn participated in the TwitterMoms Seal of Approval evaluation process, which involves underwriting a standardized, in-home research project developed by the TwitterMoms team and executed by compensated members of the TwitterMoms evaluation panel. Only products that meet TwitterMoms acceptance criteria are awarded this seal. As a part of this review, I received a bottle of Dawn Dishsoap to review, no other compensation was given.

Meet Katy's Creations!

I'm a sucker for anything cute, and Katy's Creations has outdone herself in the cuteness department! Katy, the fabulous woman behind the etsy shop Katy's Creations, and I go way back to our cheerleading days in a small town in Michigan and have reconnected through the wonder that is Facebook! She is a master of yarn, and has decided to start selling her adorable hats she's created and her business is really taking off! I was (I think :D) one of her first customers, and I chose her Owl Hats for my boys, aren't they super cute??
She has many other designs-penguins, elephants, winter creations (snowmen!) pumpkin hats, frogs-just to name a few! Every week it seems she is adding something new to her shop! She can customize the hats in the color of your choice, or let her put together a color combo for you (like I did, I love the colors she chose!)
You can find Katy's Creations on Etsy, as well as Facebook! Be sure to "Like" her and help her grow!

Skin-Peel.com Review

I have had problem skin for years-oddly enough, my skin was pretty great when I was a teenager, it was after I started college that my skin started sprouting acne. My trouble spots are along my jawline. I've tried most over the counter products, but one thing I hadn't tried was a chemical peel. After being introduced to Skin-Peel.com, I was anxious to try something new for my skin, but didn't want to go the harsh chemical route where I would have to hide in my house for days while my skin was red and peeling. Skin-Peel.com is a great company that you can buy professional grade peels. I was immediately drawn to the Fusion Peel. According to Skin-Peel.com, the Fusion Peel is "A multi-acid, multi-enzyme peeling solution suitable for all skin types and issues. Minimal irritation, almost no downtime, and fabulous corrective action. An amazing Fusion of exfoliating agents that produce a Fusion of skin benefits:
  • Clears acne conditions.
  • Reduces age spots, melasma, discoloration.
  • Improves skin texture and tone.
  • Softens crows feet, fine lines, and wrinkles."

The major appeal to the Fusion Peel for me was that there is no down time! I could go about my business for the rest of the day and not worry about any embarrassing redness!
Just to be safe, I decided to do the Fusion Peel when I had a few days where I had no where to go. As a first time user, they recommend a gentle facial cleanser before you get started. I put the Fusion Peel evenly over my face with the provided gauze pads for about 6-8 minutes. I felt a slight burning around my nose, but other than that it was easy and painless. I rinsed it off following the guidelines and used their post peel Neutralizer spray.
I had no peeling whatsoever the days following. I didn't expect my face to look different, but there were no visible changes my first time using this product. However, my face was really soft. I normally have dry skin, and I think the Fusion Peel "trimmed" that layer to leave smooth skin behind. I'm hoping after a few more treatments, I start to see the changes in my coloration and see a more even skin tone!
Skin-Peel has great customer service, and they have professionals on hand to help you with anything you need. You should be aware, they DO sell peels that require a professionals skilled application, so if you do buy those kinds of products, be sure to see your Dr or health care provider. I chose the Fusion Peel for it's ease, and my ability to do it safely in my own home!
Check out Skin-Peel for yourself and find the right product for you whether its an acid peel, lightening cream, or any accessories you need for your skin care and use the code SHEBLOGS at checkout for 20% off your order! (good until Dec 31st 2010)

(I do have "before" pics and will take "after" pics of my skin when I start seeing results, as of now, there is no change so I didn't want to post my pics until then)

Disclosure: I received a product for review, no other compensation was given. Please see my disclosure policy for more details.

More ways to have fun and win with My Pillow Pets!

(This is a news release that I copied and pasted, I did not write this! Check it out!)

My Pillow Pets® Challenges Children to be Word Whizzes

How many words can you come up with based on the names of Pillow Pets™?

Oceanside, CA – November 1, 2010 – “What’s in a name?” Shakespeare famously posed that question and now the people behind My Pillow Pets® are asking it, although asking it with a twist. In November, My Pillow Pets® is launching a contest on its Facebook page. Each day, the company will post the name of one of their popular Pillow Pets™  plush folding stuffed animals on the page and challenge kids to create as many words as they can using the letters in its name. The person who comes up with the most words posted on the page (and as defined in an English dictionary) wins!

Fans just need to write on the Pillow Pets™ Facebook wall as many words as their children can create using those letters.  In the event multiple people come up with the same number of words, a drawing will be held to determine the winner. One winner will be chosen per week. Winners will also be recognized on the new Pillow Pets™ blog (www.mypillowpetsblog.com).

”We’re excited to come up with new and engaging ways for children to interact with the world of My Pillow Pets® online,” said Jennifer Telfer, founder of My Pillow Pets®. “We think a challenge like this is both fun and educational, proving that those two concepts are not mutually exclusive.”

Made of ultra-soft chenille, My Pillow Pets® plush folding stuffed animals are much more than a stuffed animal. With a strap that closes underneath to transform the pillow into a friendly pet, they are an ideal travel pal, naptime buddy and all-around cuddly friend. My Pillow Pets® plush folding stuffed animals are available in jungle animals, farm critters and sea creatures – 36 different animals to choose from – and are just one part of the My Pillow Pets® family of products, which also includes books, blankets, slippers, and backpacks.

Happy Child, Better World-How you can help a child in need!

Happy Child Better World

Because a “clothes call” goes a long way

If you're looking for a great charity to get involved with, check out Happy Child Better World.
There are over 700,000 Russian orphans and of those, over 17,900 of them are toddler under the age of 4, many abandoned because their parents could not afford to take care of them.
While the government provides them with basic needs, adequate clothing is not available.
The goal of this charity is simple: Clothe the children, and educate and help the mothers come to a different decision.
To get things started, Happy Child Better World is holding a drive this holiday season in hopes to get enough clothing to help the orphans through the long and cold Russian winter.
What you can do : send new clothing for infants or new and gently used clothing for toddlers 4 and under to:
FY Global attn: Le'Bulga (HCBW) 213 west 35th street 7th Floor New York, NY 10001
(no monetary gifts at this time will be accepted)
We know that times are tough here in America, but times are so much tougher in Russia.
Every donation will help, no matter how small, so if you're looking to get involved with a charity this holiday season, consider Happy Child Better World (created by Le'Bulga Founder Natalia Konovolova)

A successful Halloween!

I'm a few days late, I know :D But can you blame me? I think I'm still recovering from my sugar coma!
My oldest had so much fun on Halloween, this is his second time trick or treating. It was pretty chilly, so I had my husband stay home with the baby (can I still say that if he is 15 months old?) and I took Cooper trick or treating. He had to wear a few layers so his Super Hero costume wasn't as flashy, but he was okay with that! He was so polite, and was excited with each house we went to. We are lucky to live on a great street that we can just walk down and do our trick or treating instead of driving around from place to place. After we were done, it was our turn to pass out candy, and I think my son had more fun doing that than he did trick or treating! Oh, and right before trick or treating started, I thought it would be a good idea to schedule a hair appointment for myself to get my roots done and my hair trimmed...except my stylist was running a bit behind so I had to leave the salon with dripping wet, uncut hair in order to get ready for trick or treating! A small sacrifice, although I think my hair froze on the way out the door!
